[Prayer] North Korea’s Nuclear and Economic Problems

The Masikryong Ski Resort and Samjiyon Ski Resort, which Kim Jong Un ambitiously built to overcome the economic crisis through increasing tourism income, has been hampered by climate warming and the spread of the novel coronavirus. North Korea plans to spend $8 billion over the next five years to create a 418-km-long tourist belt that connects to the Masikryong Ski Resort. COVID-19, however, has cut off the Chinese tourists, the absolute source of tourism revenue, and the resort has faced difficulties due to the reduced snow caused by climate warming. We pray that North Korea’s economic difficulties and denuclearization will be governed not by Kim Jong Un’s will but by the Lord’s hands.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” (Ephesians 5:15-17)

God, who told us to understand the Lord’s will, we lift up to you the situation of where Kim Jong Un is seeking to overcome economic difficulties with his own strength and deeds, but climate warming and viruses are holding things back. We confess that all these situations are in your hands, Lord. Do your will for your name. May they discern your will like a wise man and may you guide their way.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
