Recently, there was a case in which a North Korean worker dispatched from Pyongyang to Russia was caught by the Russian police and escorted back to North Korea after being falsely accused as a rapist. This worker couldn’t endure the labor exploitation of working more than 10 hours a day on average and tried to escape, but with the cooperation of the Russian authorities, the attempt was immediately interrupted. Recently, Russia has been responding quickly to North Korea’s request to arrest North Korean workers who escape their workplace. North Korea is asking the Russians to arrest the workers by falsely charging them of major crimes such as rape or murder. We pray for the safety of the North Korean workers who are attempting to escape.
Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet. (Psalms 140:4)
God who listens to the cries of those who are in crisis, we lift up to you the difficulties of the North Korean workers in Russian trying to escape their various hardships, and we pray that you will lead them to a safe path. Protect the workers from being caught by the Russian police and from being sent back to North Korea. Also, we pray that they would have the opportunity to hear the Gospel while they are abroad so that they can be blessed to receive salvation through believing in Jesus.
