The Ministry of Tourism of China has announced that about 1.2 million Chinese tourists visited North Korea last year. This number is 50% higher than the number in 2017, and it can be estimated that North Korea made $360 million (about 427.7 billion won), assuming that tourists spent $300 per person. According to one source, ‘Sinuiju Day Trip Bus Tour’, which departs at Dandong at 8 a.m. and comes back around 5 p.m. after traveling to Sinuiju, is very popular. Also, purchasing train tickets from Dandong to Pyongyang has become almost impossible due to a sudden increase in tourists. We pray that outside information will flow into North Korea through the influx of Chinese tourists, and most importantly, that the gospel will be preached to renew the souls there.
“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” Relying on the words in Psalms 19:7, Lord, we pray that the souls of the north will be revived by your words. Currently, the number of Chinese tourists traveling to North Korea is rapidly growing. We pray and hope that more people of faith will visit the land to pray tearfully for North Korea to be restored as the kingdom of God, and to pray earnestly for salvation to come in that land. Currently, they are quietly treading on the land and worshiping indirectly, but we pray that the day of freely praying, worshipping, and proclaiming the gospel will come quickly.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
