[Prayer] More and more decadent entertainment establishments in North Korea

It is said that decadent entertainment establishments such as karaoke and bar have become active in North Korea. In 2011, North Korean authorities criticized karaoke as “capitalist delinquent culture,” and closed all local karaoke stations except Pyongyang. Furthermore, the foreigner-only karaoke in Pyongyang was closed last year.

According to sources in Yanggang Island, Hyesan City has a lot of businesses where people can enjoy drinking and entertainment such as karaoke, bar, massage room, and billiards room, in which they can call a young woman to get services. These businesses avoid the authorities’ eyes by pretending to be a family house or a restaurant on the surface, and keep running even if they are caught by giving a bribe.

We pray that the culture of decadence in North Korea will fade away and that the North Korean Church will maintain the holiness that distinguishes itself from the world.

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do”

1 Peter 1:15
