[Prayer] 9.83 million people in North Korea suffer from extreme poverty
As a result of the World Poverty Clock, a relief group, the country with the highest poverty rate in the world is South Sudan. North Korea has the highest percentage of the poverty rate among non-African countries. The world poverty watch is defined as the poorest people who settle for food and shelter with less than $ 1.9 a day. The population in extreme poverty in North Korea is 9,830,000.
On February 22, North Korea sent a letter to the UN calling for food aid, saying, “Due to abnormal temperature this year, there is a shortage of 1.4 million tons of food, almost half of the ration. Fifteen percent of urban and rural residents under five years of age or younger are underdeveloped and 24 percent are suffering from malnutrition. Given this urgent reality, the UN should support $ 120 million to help these 3.8 million.”
We pray that the North Korean regime would not use its money for the development of weapons of mass destruction or the consumption of luxury goods for high officers, but for the supply of food for its residents.
