[Prayer] A North Korean worker in Russia committed suicide due to excessive exploitation

In early April, a North Korean worker in his 30s committed suicide in an apartment building in Vladivostok. It is known that he died because he could not endure the imposition of excessive national duties and the extortion by his executives. The salary of the dead worker for four years was only about $ 1,000. In general, North Korean workers who work in Russia pay about $ 800 a month per person as money offered to the North Korean regime. Since there’s not a lot to do in the winter, they have to work between 14 and 16 hours a day in the spring to pay an outstanding balance. In addition to the money offered to the regime, they have to offer additional money for national construction such as Samjiyeon, Wonsan, and Karma, which makes them unable to buy living necessities.

We pray that the North Korean regime’s abuses over poor workers in foreign countries would stop and also they would be able to hear the Gospel so that they can receive the blessing of having Jesus in their lives.

“Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns.”

Deuteronomy 24:14
