[Prayer] North Koreans becoming indifferent at the new year’s message
On January 1, Kim Jong Un sat on the sofa of the office and announced his new year ‘s message. Even though it was the first political event of the year, the North Korean residents had a lukewarm reaction to that. In the past year, the residents seemed to expect a new change in their leader who confessed his lack of ability. However, in the eighth year of the ruling, the new year’s message is nothing more than a meaningless annual event in the face of poverty and oppression as well as the fact that North Korea can’t become self-reliant without the help of the international community.
On the first day of the New Year, the North Korean residents gather together and watch the new year’s message. This year, they spent most of their time chatting and just waited for the end of the message. This is because it was a speech that was not much different from the previous year’s one without a tangible change in people’s lives. It is a glimpse of the disappointment that the residents had at the North Korean regime. Prayer is needed for the more North Korean people becoming disillusioned at their regime so that they would be captivated by the word of God, not the Juche ideology.
