[Prayer] Protect the North Korean children from malnutrition and labor exploitation
A few years ago, under the direction of Kim Jong Eun, a number of orphanages were built throughout North Korea. The number of day care facilities may have increased, but the qualitative part seems to have not improved at all. The North Korean sources quoted by Daily NK said, “The rumor is that the orphanages get lots of supports due to the instruction of the North Korean regime, but in reality, most of them are siphoned off by the manager of an orphanage. If you become a manager of an orphanage, you will earn lots of money and live a luxurious life.” It means that the materials and food for children are taken by the manager. Even it is said that some facilities mobilize the emaciated children for farming.
In the World Bank’s World Governance Indicators released last month, North Korea ranked 200th out of 209 countries with a score of -1.48 for corruption control, which means that corruption throughout the society is serious. In the case of child care facilities, it is said that when 10 falls from the top, 4 goes to the middle, 4 goes to the bottom and the rest 2 goes to the children. Prayer is needed for the North Korean children suffering from malnutrition and labor exploitation, who are supposed to be taken care of by adults.
In Deuteronomy 10:18, God says, “He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.” I lift up the North Korean children suffering from structural corruption. The official media in North Korea frequently advertise that Kim Jong Eun loves on the kindergarten children and advertises that he is a child-loving leader. However, unlike what is shown, the reality of North Korea’s orphans is terrible. It is difficult to see what to eat, and the rice that is normally served is said to be in short supply. Some children are mobilized on difficult farming works. May the Lord deal with the embezzlement of child care officers and give them a fear of God so that they can take care of their children honestly. Also please create a condition where there is no increase of orphans wondering around the streets. May food, clothing, and shelter be provided, but above all, let spiritual food also be supplied to people in North Korea. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen!
