[Prayer] Protect the North Korean people while they are defecting
A North Korean worker who had planned to escape from Moscow to South Korea disappeared all of a sudden. According to a North Korean source, the missing worker was 29 years old, who was dispatched to Russia a year ago, and tried to escape because he could not endure the harsh working environment. He was ready to go to South Korea after finishing the preparation of leaving, but suddenly he disappeared. Even though we could not confirm what really happened to him, it is possible that he was sent back to North Korea because he disappeared right after going on trial in Vladivostok on July 7. There is a rumor that he was kidnapped by Russia due to the request of North Korea. If forced repatriation is right, then he is likely to have been taken to a political prison camp. On North Korea side, not only did he try to escape from North Korea but also he chose to go to South Korea.
How could this be the case of just one young man? It is the difficulty that many people experience in attempting to defect. The North Korean regime punishes its people who try to escape from North Korea because of the extremely difficult situations they are in. Prayer is needed that the evil deed of the regime punishing the innocent people would be stopped and the opening of North Korea would happen shortly so that the gospel can be freely delivered to the north and people can enjoy the blessing of worshiping God.
In Ezekiel 45: 8, God says, “This land will be his possession in Israel. And my princes will no longer oppress my people but will allow the people of Israel to possess the land according to their tribes.” I lift up the situation where people attempting to escape are forced to return to North Korea. May the evil deed of the North Korean authorities, who detain, torture and oppress the people who have been arrested while escaping from North Korea, be stopped shortly. Please guide the steps of those who are at risk of defecting from North Korea and protect them whenever they are in danger. Above all else, please let them meet the people of God and enjoy the blessings of hearing the gospel. Protect the people who have been imprisoned in labor training camps and political prison camps in North Korea. Let the new day come when various detention facilities collapse and the imprisoned are set free so that they give praise to God. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen!
