[Prayer] Protect those who are escaping from North Korea
Many North Koreans risk their lives to escape from North Korea. There are heartbreaking stories about their journey of coming to South Korea or a third country, which cannot be heard without tears. A North Korean defector who settled in South Korea a few years ago also remembers escaping from North Korea as a nightmare. “My children got caught while escaping from North Korea. Later I heard that they were imprisoned in the political prison camp. My heart was broken since they seemed to get caught because of me. There’s nothing I can do about this situation. I am just trying hard to get some news about them. I have spent almost 100,000 dollars just for that.” This story doesn’t just apply to this person but many other defectors as well. Prayer is needed for the North Korean defectors who have had terrible experiences of risking their lives while escaping from North Korea and the North Korean residents who have been put to severe torture.
In Psalm 107:19-20, God says, “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” I lift up those who are suffering from the forcible repatriation to the north and the detention in political prison camps. May the evil deeds of the North Korean authorities that imprison and torture its own residents in the prison camp stop. Let the South Korean church begin to eagerly pray for the issue of the forcible repatriation to the north and the detention in political prison camps. May the North Korean regime collapse swiftly so that the people can hear the word of God freely. Also, please keep the steps of those who are escaping from North Korea so that they will not be abused or lose their lives in the process of defecting. May their inner and external wounds be healed in the Lord. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
