[Prayer] May the North Korean workers have a safer working environment!
A North Korean worker, who had worked in St. Petersburg, Russia and got injured, committed suicide. It was because of a colleague’s statement that some money would be given to a family in North Korea if an overseas worker dies. He waited for 10 days to die, eating only beer and aspirin, but the situation did not go as he intended. The North Korean authorities ordered him to return home because the party could not spend its own money providing a cure for him, and he ended up dying while boarding the plane.
Although North Korean workers are often injured or lose their lives at overseas work sites, the North Korean authorities don’t make an effort to protect their own workers. The regime forces the North Korean workers to offer loyalty funds to itself instead of giving them appropriate rewards even if they cannot work because they are sick. Prayer is needed for the North Korean workers who are exposed to poor working conditions.
In Deuteronomy 24: 15, God says, “Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor and are counting on it. Otherwise they may cry to the Lord against you, and you will be guilty of sin.” I lift up and pray for the North Korean workers who work in a dangerous environment and spend their days like nightmares. Let them have a safer working environment so that they would not have to work at the risk of their lives and receive necessary treatments. Also, let the evil regime of North Korea, which is exploiting its own people to earn money, fall down quickly. Let the workers hear the gospel and receive Jesus Christ while working overseas. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
