Prayer] Let the food aid to North Korea continue especially during this cold winter!

According to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), last year, the amount of food aid WFP provided to North Korea has reached a record low of 24,000 tons (about 1/38 of 2001). WFP started food aid to North Korea in 1995 and became fully operational in 1996. In 2001, the WFP supported 930,000 tons, the highest ever recorded.

However, when North Korea began its first nuclear test in 2006, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) started to sanction North Korea; and the amount of funding for food aid from the international community has decreased and the amount of aid has decreased. As a result, WFP’s monthly provisioning target of 60 cities in 9 provinces North Korea’s 65,000 vulnerable groups is facing difficulties in receiving food for lack of funding. Fund subsidies up to now are only 19% of the projected target by December next year.

In the aftermath of the North Korean sanctions, humanitarian aid, including food aid from the international community, is declining. Prayer is needed so that the North Koreans will not have difficulty in receiving food.

We praise our God who provides food to the North Korean by claiming His promise from Psalm 136:25, “He gives food to every creature. His loves endures forever.” We lift up to you in prayer the situation that the food aid to North Korea is decreasing due to the sanctions on North Korea. Open doors for the humanitarian support so that food and clothing to the North Korean people will be provisioned. Please do not let the innocent people get hurt by the stupidity of the North Korean leadership, and take care of the lives and well-being of the people. So, that no one will die of malnutrition or disease among the North Koreans, and let the North Koreans hear the gospel and receive the blessing of God’s kingdom before they die.

I give thanks and praise to God who is merciful.

I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
