North Korea has now shifted from the power of ideological ‘brainwashing’ to the greater influence of ‘enlightenment’ through the influx of external information. In the past, people believed that “the Party and the Leader provide for us,” but now they trust the ‘jangmadang’ (market) where they can earn money for themselves more than the state distribution. They long for the advancements and free lifestyles of the outside world and are realizing the falsehood of the regime’s propaganda. In response, Kim Jong-un has intensified surveillance and control, harshly cracking down on those who possess or distribute external information content.
“Yet the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he sees that their day is coming. The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose way is upright; their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.” Psalm 37:13-15 (North Korean Version) may the words of justice destined for the North Korean regime come to pass in God’s time, bringing cracks to the hardened North Korean dictatorship. May the North Korean people break free from the regime’s ideological brainwashing and obey God’s word, and may the regime that opposes God’s kingdom and church be brought down, allowing God’s kingdom to be established in North Korea.
I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
