The North Korean regime is using the economic and military gains obtained through war for nuclear weapons development and the maintenance of power. Furthermore, without transparently revealing the scale of troop deployments and the situation of casualties and injuries, they glorify the fallen as “heroes” and extensively promote compensation for bereaved families in housing and education, thus concealing the reality of sacrifice. We must pray that the evil of continuing to expand military cooperation, even as countless young people die and are injured, will soon come to an end.
“Can wicked rulers be allied with you, those who frame injustice by statute? They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. But the LORD has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge.” Psalm 94:20-22 (Korean Bible, North Korean Version).
Lord, we lift up the young people of North Korea and their families who have been driven to the battlefield into Your hands. May You be a Father to those who have no one to turn to, protecting their lives, and opening a way for them to hear the Gospel and encounter the living God, even in the midst of war. May the North Korean regime heed Your warning to stop shedding innocent blood and turn back, so that they no longer sacrifice the lives of the people for their own interests and the maintenance of power.
