The unexpected expansion of the new coronavirus is also affecting the North Korean defectors hiding in China. This is due to the anxiety of not knowing how and when Chinese health authorities will come to check the status of Wuhan coronavirus, which is terrifying to the whole region of China as well as the world. For the North Korean defectors who cannot guarantee their security, the risk of being discovered and arrested has increased due to quarantine and sanitation inspections that are carried out even deep into rural areas. We pray that Wuhan coronavirus will not be a problem for North Korean defectors who are hiding in China, but rather be a time of opportunity to draw closer to God.
“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.” (James 4:8-9)
God, we raise up to you the situation of the possibility of North Korean defectors living in China being exposed due to the spread of Wuhan coronavirus. We pray that they will be protected from being sent back to North Korea and as they face the current situation of helplessness in front of the virus, may they realize the limits of humans and return to you, Lord, the source of life and all blessings.
