[Prayer] May God Open the Doors to Share the Gospel with North Koreans who Make a Living from the Market Economy

The Unification and Peace Research Institute of Seoul National University surveyed the income level of 116 North Koreans who defected last year. As a result, it was shown that those who were paid at a job recognized by North Korean authorities before the defection received less than a dollar a month. On the other hand, more than half of the respondents made more than $60 a month through Jangmadang market and etc. When asked about the amount of monthly living income needed to live in North Korea, most of the respondents answered $60, and 20% of the respondents said they needed from $180 to as high as $400, which leads to an assumption of polarization of income in NK. We pray that North Koreans who make a living in the Jangmadang market will have the opportunity to hear the gospel there.

“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:12-14)

God, who says that everyone who calls on your name will be saved without discrimination, we pray that the people of North Korea who live on the marketplace will hear your name when they buy and sell things. As they hear your name, may they be planted with faith so that they will call on your name. Also, as you said there must be someone preaching to them, may the Bible, church, and, seminary delivery become more active.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
