[Prayer] Faith and Strength to the Suffering Prisoners

A UN report says the death tolls are rising at the North Hamgyong Chongori Reeducation Camp, where many North Koreans are deported from China. Hunger, illness, severe beatings, and public executions were cited as the causes of death. The guards also limit prisoners’ movements to less than two minutes per hour, and the rooms in the facility are overcrowded with inmates, space is not enough to lie down, and is extremely unsanitary. We pray for improved conditions in North Korea’s prisons and for detainees to find God in times of hardship.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Lord, we lift up to you the prison facilities in North Korea and especially the detainees in Chongori Reeducation Camp. Many people are dying because of unsanitary conditions and serious human rights abuses. When the moment of indescribable suffering comes, we pray that they will call on your name, Lord, and we pray that they will be comforted by your overflowing grace.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
