[Prayer] The Impact of Chinese Church on Korean Church ①
According to a survey by the Korea Research Institute for Mission, the number of missionaries sent by Korean churches abroad in 2018 was 21,220 people in 159 countries. This is an increase of 145 people from the previous year, but the annual growth rate was 0.69%, the lowest since 1979. The current trend of shrinking missionary dispatch is in line with the reality of church growth that is slowing down. The Korean church has achieved great external growth but is gradually losing the strength and power of internal faith. Various secular lifestyles have entered the church causing sexual immorality and greed. In addition, as the spiritual authority of the church is declining, the infiltration of the pseudo-heretics into the church is frequently occurring, and backslidden seminary that claims conservatism are condemning healthy missions group as heresy.
“You have the appearance of godliness, but you deny the power of godliness. Turn away from these things.” Lord, as you have warned us in 2Timothy 3:5, we repent in the name of Jesus Christ for our Korean and immigrant churches, pastors, and church members for focusing on the appearance rather than on the power of godliness, and for pursuing greed, sexual immorality, fame, and power. Forgive us, Lord! We pray that all South Korean and overseas churches do not settle in the church buildings or settle with having family or social gatherings. We pray that they will instead go outside of the church buildings where suffering is due for the name of Jesus Christ and be willing to receive the persecution. We proclaim in the name of Jesus Christ that they will be used for preaching the gospel, the suffering of the cross and the glory of the resurrection.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray Amen!
