[Prayer] Seventy wealthy elites purged & Confiscation of property
At the end of last year, due to Kim Jong-un’s so-called “anti-corruption campaign,” 50 to 70 wealthy elites were executed. According to a report by the North Korean Strategic Center which is a North Korean refugee group, the incident was apparently the removal of the current administration’s opposition to US-South Korea diplomacy and diplomacy toward North Korea, but in reality, it was a purge of high-ranking officials, who had gained their wealth illegally, for confiscation of property.
A guard commander was also included in the purge, and a rumor that millions of dollars were seized spread. In the past, North Korea had tolerated some degree of corruption in order to satisfy its loyal group, but now it has begun to execute the senior military officers without hesitation in order to compensate for the scarcity of the budget. We pray that the conflict between Kim Jong-un and the elite will deepen and the complaints about the regime will heighten.
