[Prayer] The upcoming North Korean Supreme People’s Assembly meeting & the ROK-US summit

On April 11, there are two major political meetings. One is the summit between the ROK and the US, and the other one is the North Korean Supreme People’s Assembly(parliament) meeting. Kim Jong-un is likely to unveil his position on denuclearization on that day. However, it is expected that only the basic policy statement will be announced in a way that does not affect the ROK-US summit, and the rest will be discussed later.

Even though the ROK-US summit is approaching, the gap between the ROK and the U.S. regarding the solution of the denuclearization of North Korea has scarcely narrowed. In terms of ‘Small Deal’ based on North Korea’s ‘step-by-step agreement and phased implementation,’ South Korea focuses on resuming dialogue with ‘Good enough Deal’ to ‘step-by-step transition after comprehensive agreement,’ while the U.S. insists on ‘Big Deal’ approach, meaning that there is no sanction relief without denuclearization. We pray that the North Korean Supreme People’s Assembly meeting and the ROK-US summit will proceed in the will of God.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
