[Prayer] Pray for more high-ranking officials to defect from North Korea

A respected local daily newspaper reported that a North Korean diplomat, Cho Seong Gil who had suddenly disappeared last November is now protected by an Italian intelligence agency after escaping to a third country and returning to Italy. Some media even reported that “a North Korean special agent tried to find Cho’s whereabouts in Rome.” If all of this is true, Cho and his family have not succeeded in asylum for more than two months, and it seems they have not yet been secured.

Deputy Chief Ambassador Cho Seong Gil is expected to have a lot of personal information on elite figures in North Korea since he came from an elite family where his father his father-in-law were all diplomats. As Cho is the first case where a North Korean ambassador seeks asylum since Kim Jong Un’s regime began, the impact of his exile would be enormous.

Prayer is needed for the protection of Cho and his family. In addition, we pray that the number of high-ranking defector will increase so that it will lead to the fundamental change in the North Korean regime.

“He guided them safely, so they were unafraid;

but the sea engulfed their enemies.”

Psalm 78:53
