[Prayer] Let the North Korean be delivered from poverty
In the middle of last month, a North Korean young man in his 20s who came home from 10 years of his military service were beating a security guard in Sukchon County, South Pyongan Province. This young man witnessed that farm officials and judicial officials were living well, while their parents, the members of the government who had been working on state farms in all their lives, could not receive their distribution nor go to business so that they were not able to eat three meals a day. He was shocked and infuriated at the judicial officials, which led him to go to the street, take a smartphone from a passenger and attack a security guard who came to check on it, which caused the guard to have a serious injury. This incident was treated as a serious case against the judicial system, not a simple assault, and the young man was arrested immediately, receiving 8 years of correctional work, and recently he was imprisoned at the Gachon Correctional Center. The residents of the neighborhood complained about the regime by speaking up for this young man whom they insisted was smart and kind.
All North Koreans except the privileged class of Pyongyang are suffering from poverty even though they are loyal to their regime by attending various events and doing labor out of obligation. Prayer is needed that the North Korea regime would stop an evil deed of exploiting its own people and the food problem would be solved. Especially, we need to pray for the North Korean youths to gain new hope by hearing the gospel.
In Psalm 9:12, God says, “For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.” I lift up the North Korean people who are suffering from poverty under the control of the North Korean regime. Please have mercy on them who are exploited like slaves under the dictatorship. May the suffering North Korean people including the youths who are disappointed at the reality of North Korea hear the gospel and enjoy the blessing of believing Jesus and worshiping God. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
