[Prayer] “I cannot talk to my family in North Korea for more than a minute!”
“I cannot talk for more than a minute on my call. After more than a minute, people who are cracking will detect radio waves and chase me on a motorcycle so I cannot talk. In the past, I could talk for 10 to 15 minutes, which enabled me to ask after my family and hear the news from North Korea. But now I asked my family, ‘Are you doing well?’, and they responded, ‘How about you?’ I told them, ‘I send you this amount of money,’ and they said, ‘Okay!’ This is the only conversation we can have on the phone. A little later after the conversation, I got a call from North Korea, saying ‘I receive what you sent well,’ which is the only thing they can say. These days, it is so difficult for them to move around on the street due to surveillance cameras that are installed.” This is the sad news delivered by a North Korean defector who has his family in North Korea.
In addition, when the word “defection” is tapped, people say, ‘the problem is completely different,’ which means the urgent situation where those who are caught up are dragged into a political prison camp. It is a harsh environment where they would be in big trouble when they secretly go to China because of the high level of surveillance. Prayer is needed for the family of North Korean refugees to be safe. We also need to pray that the means of communication that the North Korean people can use would increase, so that there would be a freer environment established where external news can flow into North Korea and people have more opportunities to hear the Gospel.
In John 5:24, God says, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” I lift up the situation where North Korean defectors cannot talk to their family in North Korea for more than a minute because of the severe surveillance of the regime. Please protect those who call from outside to the inside of North Korea from being caught in the crackdown, and have mercy on this situation to stop this kind of severe control. Therefore, may external news be actively delivered into North Korea and may the opportunity to share the Gospel be increased. We pray that the land of North Korea will be filled with the Gospel and the regime that is against God will collapse so that the North Korea people will encounter Jesus, receive eternal life, and enjoy the peace that the world cannot give. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
